Prince & Princess of Ireland

 Chapter Three- A coin

The man walked away and left Elda speechless. Soon the house was empty and Elda and Torin had no where to go. For the last time, they sat together on the beach starting at the ocean. Suddenly Elda noticed a shining thing washing up from the sea. Elda ran and picked it up. "T-Torin, look." Torin jumped up and examined it. "What is it?" He asked. Elda playfully hit him on the head. "It's a coin, you rubber head," she responded. Elda was very outspoken, while Torn was very shy and naive sometimes.

The coin was very peculiar. On it was a large S. After looking more closely at it, Elda found a compass rose on the coin. "If that's a compass rose, then the S must stand for south!" Torin pointed south. "South is across the ocean. We'd have to buy a boat, or even worse, use Athair's old boat." Torin looked at Elda. A mischievous grin lit Elda's face. Torin knew what that meant.

"Are you daft? No way are we following a coin. We have much more important matters going on right now."

Elda's grin faded. "But Torin, what if it leads to somethin' importan'?"

"What coin could lead you to something important? No, Elda. We're not going anywhere."

An hour later.........

The glowing stars hung in the dark sky as Torin and Elda Braygan snuck into their used-to-be- barn.

Torin shushed Elda.

"Look, if we're going to do this, we have to do it quickly. Here, you get that side of the boat and I'll get this side. And remember, if someone caught us, we could go to jail. Technically, this is not our property, and this is not our row boat since Athair never gave it to us."

"I know, I know!" Elda complained.

"Well, then, keep your mouth shut!"

The two crouched down and heard a man snoring. "Someone's sleepin' in here, Torin." Elda whispered. "No kidding." Torin said sarcastically.

They were now looking for the oars. Finally they found them. They carried them out and pushed the boat into the water. Slowly the two climbed in, and began rowing.

As the night dragged on and it seemed to get quieter and quieter, the two fell asleep.

Story Suggestions?

Hello!

I was thinking about starting a story, as well as the one I'm doing now. That

way I can have two chapters coming out every week, and if someone isn't

Interested in 'Prince and Princess of Ireland, at least they'll have something else.

I've been thinking about doing a mystery story. Does any of you have any

suggestions?

If so, please share in the comments!

Also, one day in the future I want to start a series called, 'Child of the

King.' I've been thinking about that for about a year. Each story is about a

different girl, with her own  tragedy or problem, and one day they all meet up

with each other.

If you have any ideas about that, feel free to let me know.

Prince and Princess of Ireland.

Chapter Two- "Why does the ocean dance?"

Ten years later.........

Torin and Elda were finally able to enter the room, their mother was in. She looked so sickly. Her face was white and she was shivering cold, but there was also sweat pouring down her forehead. She couldn't even sit up, she only motioned for her two children to come closer. Elda rushed to her mother and knelt by the bedside, holding her hand. "Mama, please. you're stronger than this." Aileen looked across the room to where fifteen year old Torin, was standing in the doorway. She gave a comforting smile, and then her head dropped back on her pillow and she lay permanently still. Elda's eyes welled up with tears. The doctor who was caring for Aileen, left to find a priest. "We must do the funeral, wee ones." He said picking up his bag. "The sickness could spread."

Immediately Torin dashed out the room and the front door swung open. His face was red and hot. He picked up a stone that was sitting on the sand, and threw it at the ocean, asfar as he could. But a high wave rose up, and the rock drifted back to where Torin was standing. He threw it again, higher. But the rock still came back. Torin groaned in frustration.

Elda walked out the door and came up to Torin. "Torin-" Was all she could say. But Torin pushed her away and glared at the sea, always moving. Never still. Elda again, put her hand on Torin's shoulder. "First we lose Athair. Then we lose Mother." Torin said looking at the ground. Elda sighed and they both looked at each other. Then Torin said, "I thought us losing Athair, was the most grievous thing that could ever happen to me. But now this-this is much worse. We'reorphans now. Meaningless, futureless orphans with no hope. The last of our line! "Torin! Torin! Calm yourself there! Don't be so dramatic."" After a few moments with no speaking, Torin looked at Elda and then back at the ocean. "Elda," he began. "Why does the ocean dance?" "What do ya mean, dearth`air (brother)?" "I mean, why does the ocean never sit still? It's always moving, always, always-" Torin stopped, and then tears trickled down his face. "The ocean killed Athair. And now it won't even be still, for just a wee moment! I can't believe that Mother is gone." "Torin." Elda had now had a serious look on her face. "In all the years that I've stood on this very ground here," She said looking him straight in the eye. "That was the most insane question, that could possibly come out of your pipe hole!" "What do you mean by that?" Torin was furious. "Ar'ya daft, dearth`air? I meant exactly what I said. You losing Mama and Athair is making you lose your mind. They always told us stories, about the ocean, and Athair would play his pipe and Mama would dance to the music," Torin looked away, trying to hide his tears and his ashamed face.. "Don't ya remember?"

The day slowly passed and the next morning Elda and Torin arrived at home after going to the market. They talked for a while, but they both ran out of words to say.

There was a moment of silence, and then a few men went inside the cottage taking out furniture and beds and tables. Everything the Braygans owned. "What da'ya think you're doing mister?" Elda said pushing her way into the house. "What exactly do you mean, lassie?" Elda put her hands on her hips. "Exactly what I said. These are our things, what are ya doing taking them out?" The man rolled his eyes. "You can't keep the house, missy. You ain't got enough money, now scadaddle!"

For Fun........

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know, that in the 'For Fun' page, that will

show all different things such as, poems I like, songs, short stories that don't really have any meaning,

and just some fun blogposts.

In the other pages, (Mysteries, Adventure, Faith & Christianity, and Growing up,) there will

probably be just stories, unlike 'Faith & Christianity' which will sometimes share poems or a

nice passage from the Bible, that's comforting, hopeful, or something like that.

Well, that's all there is for now, I hope this cleared things up a bit!

Here it is! It's finally finished! All of these photos are from Unsplash. I hope to

one day turn my story (once it's finished) into a book, and maybe do a part

two, or a sequel.

Anyways, I hope you all enjoy!

Prince and Princess of Ireland

Prince & Princess

Chapter One- The Braygans

Torin Braygan sat in the dirt with his new carved horse, his athair (papa) had made for him. His little horse flew from the swing to the dirt pen all in one jump. Torin was proud of his wooden horse. None of my other cairde (friends) have toys this grand. He thought to himself full of pride.

A moment later his Mother walked out from inside the small cottage in which they lived. Their little cottage was built on one of the great many 'rolling hills of Ireland.' Torin's athair was very proud of his land. Deep rich soil. The Braygan family had the best garden from all around. Though Fergus may have been a bit prideful at times, he was also very humble and caring.

He and his wife Aileen gave hundreds of fruit and vegetables to the townsfolk that were in need and some to the folks who were fine already. The Braygan's garden stretched out a whole mile and a half growing tall stalks of corn and and tomatoes. But what the Braygans were famous for the most, was good fresh Irish potatoes. Some folk even paid the Braygans, just to show their gratitude.Fergus and Aileen Braygan led a good life. They were strong willed, able and plenty healthy. The children were just the same. When Aileen Braygan walked out the door of their home, she was holding a bowl made from baked clay. Inside the bowl, there was reddish brownish dough laying there.

She walked over to Torin who was still playing in the dirt and smiled at him. But then she gazed at the ocean as if waiting for her husband to come sailing home. Finally she called Elda, Torin's twin sister. "Elda, come out here and help me make more clay!!" Little Elda ran out from in the corn field and happily agreed.

"Elda, how many times have I told ya not to play in the corn field?

Elda looked down feeling ashamed. Aileen kissed her two children's heads and they both followed her back inside.

As they walked through the doorway, Torin looked back at the ocean, just a fewfeet away.He thought of his father, who was on a trip at sea. he had been gone for nearly four months. Aileen and the children missed him dearly. Fergus reassured them in his letter that he would be back by August. But Aileen knew in her heart that there was no telling when he would ever return.
